Domestic Trance....(Process Sketch), 2011
Sometimes the grid is obvious; other times, it hides below the surface, becoming evident only through interruptions or glitches, interventions in the webbed network.
Experiencing a network such as a grid is to experience the unfolding of the system’s repetitions. It is also to experience the system’s variations and shifting perspectives, its struggle against dislocation. Perception expands and retracts as required, becomes improvisational, ad hoc. It’s this interplay, this contrast and tension between the logic of the system and the psychological flux in experiencing it that drives my work.
